The village of Richfield Springs has reported that they will be
installing new water meters for the entire village, about 600 meters in
total.
The project, which was set to start June 20, will create a faster
and more efficient water billing system. It currently takes the village
approximately two weeks to read all the meters in the village and
another week to generate the bills. The new system will allow for the
reading of the meters and billings in one day.
New meters will be checked with a radio transmitter and a laptop
computer, as opposed to formerly having to visit every individual home
in the village. Arrangements will have to be made with people who work
during the day if their meter is located inside the house.
