(Photo by Bruce Watson) | | The second dodgeball tournament sponsored by The Zone was held Friday at Richfield Springs Central School. Teams of six players from both Richfield Springs and Owen D. Young Central schools competed at in fiercely competitive play while parents and fans watched from the bleachers, sometimes getting hit themselves with stray Nerf-like balls thrown by the players.
Returning champs The Red Bombers ended up the ultimate winners of the tournament.
“Enthusiasm and interest was higher than our first tournament with upwards of 10 teams registering and competing,” said The Zone Youth Coordinator Jerry Manning. “It was great to see the turnout from students at ODY. Teams got creative with their team uniforms and it was just great, clean fun with a lot laughs and determination on the part of the kids.”
A third tournament is already in the works for later this school year and it is hopeful the number of participants will grow for that as well.
