MOHAWK – The American Red Cross Mohawk Valley Chapter invites
residents to honor veterans and current servicemen and women by
donating blood at the Flag Day blood drive, 12:30-5:30 p.m., Tuesday
June 14, at the American Legion Post 25, 43 W. Main Street.
Donors will be able to notify veterans, family members and friends
serving in the military that a blood donation was made in their honor
with postcards, provided by the Mohawk Valley Chapter. Donors
interested in sending a postcard must bring the service person’s
correct mailing address the day of the drive. Postage will be paid by
the chapter.
The Mohawk Valley Chapter will also make available its Project Video
Connect service on June 14. Project Video Connect is a system that
creates and sends free video email messages to troops serving stateside
and abroad. A blood donation is not required to take advantage of
Project Video Connect on Flag Day, but donation is encouraged as one
pint of blood can save up to three lives. Just arrive with the service
person’s email.
Across the United States, donations are needed every day to help
cancer patients, accident victims and children with blood disorders. If
you would like to make an appointment to give at this special blood
drive, please call the chapter at (315) 866-2890, email info@mohawkvalleyredcross.orgor visit www.donatebloodnow.org to make an appointment online.
