Prizes totaling $250 were awarded to four of seven contestants competing in the second annual Richfield Springs Pride Days Idol Contest held in Spring Park Sunday, July 27. This year’s first place prize of $100 went to Brandon Shokey, who performed a juggling and nunchuk routine to music. The second place prize of $75 was awarded to Marie Young, who sang Lindsey Hawn’s hit, “Broken.” Young was last year’s Idol winner. Destiny Widger took third place with her performance of “Picture to Burn” by Taylor Swift. Widger took home $50 in prize money. Finally, fourth place was given to Levy Owen, who received $25 for performing “The General” by Dispatch on his acoustic guitar. Prize money was donated by Windcrest Realty, according to Becky Marzeski, a member of The Zone board of directors. “This year, there were seven very talented young people participating in the (Idol Contest). Unfortunately, only one could be an Idol,” Marzeski said.
