Cooperstown Assembly of God is celebrating the instillation of a new pastor, Dr. Judy Barrett. Barrett moved to Cooperstown in July 2007 with her family and has been preaching at the Assembly of God since November. She has a doctorate in Biblical studies, along with degrees in biological sciences, physical therapy and psychology. Barrett has also obtained a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and ran her own karate club before relocating to Cooperstown. Her husband, Dr. Timothy Barrett, is currently employed as a physician at Basset Hospital in the Emergency department. Together, they home-school six of their seven children while their oldest serves as a Marine in North Carolina. The instillation will occur March 9 at the Sunday morning service which begins at 10:30 a.m. Sunday school is available at 9:30, and coffee and donuts are a regular before service fair. Rev. Bill Kirk is returning to Cooperstown to install the new pastor. Kirk planted the church over 22 years ago, and oversaw the building of the church just outside of Fly Creek on routes 205 and 80. Presently, he is serving at the district offices of the New York Assembly of God in Liverpool.
