SAUQUOIT – Plans for 2008 Relay For Life of Sauquoit Valley are underway. This sixth annual Relay For Life of Sauquoit Valley is set for June 7-8 beginning at 10 a.m. The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is an overnight community celebration where individuals and teams camp out, picnic, dance, and take turns walking or running around a track “relay” style to raise funds to fight cancer. “We are going to try and make a few changes for 2008,” said Patti Lyons, event chair. “Last year, we moved the event to the front parking and everyone had a great time and we had picture perfect weather. “One of the new ideas will involve our event kickoff in March” added Lyons. “In the past, we have had our kickoff at a restaurant or Clayville fire hall. The committee wanted to try something different and decided to combine the kickoff festivities and the first team captain’s meeting we typically have in March,” noted Lyons. The kickoff rally is set for Tuesday, March 11, from 6-8 p.m., at the Sauquoit High School cafeteria. Light refreshments will be provided. “The committee is very excited to try this and hopefully we can integrate the information we share at kickoff and have all of the new and experienced teams get a jump start with their fundraising activities,” added Lyons. “We highly encourage anyone who is interested in forming a team, volunteering or sponsoring the event to join us on March 11 and see what we have in store for everyone,” said Lyons.
