COOPERSTOWN – The Otsego County Chamber and the Cooperstown Chamber of Commerce have announced the establishment of a joint effort to conduct a governmental affairs opinion survey of their combined membership. According to The Otsego County Chamber President and CEO Rob Robinson, and Cooperstown Chamber Executive Director John Bullis, this first-ever combined endeavor will result in a comprehensive legislative agenda that will have the support of over 1,200 member businesses, employing tens of thousands of people throughout the Otsego County-Cooperstown region. The 2008 Joint Chamber Legislative Agenda Survey will be conducted electronically through each organization’s Web site. “Individual members will be able to take the survey by logging onto the membership section of their respective chamber’s site from now through Dec. 14,” said Robinson. “We made a significant effort to organize the survey instrument so that it can be completed very quickly online, while yielding an important set of usable information.” The chambers have identified several areas in which they intend to cooperate closely and stated that this is the first opportunity to do so. “In the past, both chambers have conducted separate government relations programs,” said Bullis. “Combining our efforts should result in a more accurate identification of the issues important to the region’s business community, as well as streamline efforts to communicate an articulated position to elected representatives at all levels.” Members of the chambers may participate in the 2008 Joint Chamber Legislative Survey by logging onto cooperstownchamber.org or otsegocountychamber.com and follow the “Survey” link located on the home page.
