HARTWICK – The Otsego County Historical Association will present a program entitled Death and Life on the Otsego Frontier, Thursday, July 13, at 7 p.m., at the Kinney Memorial Library in Hartwick. Dominick Reisen, local historian, will lead a discussion of death and mourning in the early 19th century. He will also explore what it meant to those family members who had to carry on after the death of a head of household, wife and mother, or child. This program will center on grave stones and epitaphs from the Middlefield Baptist Cemetery, along with examples from Middlefield and Otsego County history. Dominick Reisen is a local historian who has written several books on Middlefield history, including “Inscriptions from the Middlefield Baptist Cemetery and Middlefield: Otsego Lake’s Eastern Shore.” In addition to leading an architectural tour of the Middlefield Hamlet Historic District (with a guide book he designed and wrote); he is also the former town of Middlefield historian.
