COOPERSTOWN – The Cooperstown Art Association (CAA) proudly
announces three new exhibits; a group show, “The Many Faces of Folk
Art,” a solo show, “At Home,” by Ashley Cooper, of Cooperstown, and the
annual Cooperstown Central School (CCS) Art Exhibition.
All three shows will open Friday, with a reception from 5-7 p.m. The
CCS exhibit will run through May 26, the other two shows will be on
display through June 2.
“The Many Faces of Folk Art” will be on display in Gallery A and
will include a wide variety of folk art styles and include regional
artists and artists with ties to the area.
Exhibiting artists include Tim Hamwey, of Worcester, Edwin Johnson,
of Fly Creek, Kittie Johnson, of Cooperstown, Lavern Kelly, formerly of
Oneonta, Jeanette Koji, of Davenport, Ivan Koota, of Delhi, Martha
Leone, of Warnerville, Janet and Charles Munro, of Hyannis, Mass.,

Gallery B will feature “At Home,” a solo show of board paintings by
Ashley Cooper. By investigating the archeology of space through
cut-away house paintings, Cooper struggles to discover how the
abstraction and the narrative content of a painting can come together.
In Gallery C, the CAA will be featuring the annual Cooperstown
Central School Art Exhibition. This exhibit is always a crowd pleaser,
showcasing everything that is fun, fresh and inspiring from an
exceptionally talented group of teenagers.
The CAA is located at 22 Main Street in Cooperstown, in the village
library building, diagonally across the street from the National
Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Hours are: 11-4 p.m., daily; 1-4
p.m., Sundays; closed Tuesdays. Please call 607- 547-9777 for more
