MILFORD – The Upper Susquehanna Contradance will be holding its
monthly fourth Saturday dance this Saturday, featuring Oneonta caller
Peter Blue and live traditional music by the Blue Rugg Cutters (Peter
Blue, Yvonne Rugg and Sandy Peevers). The dance will be held 8-11 p.m.
on the wood floor of the Upper Susquehanna Cultural Center, the former
Presbyterian Church, North Main Street (Route 28), Milford.
Blue is a caller well-known throughout the Northeast for his
enthusiastic approach to dancing and calling, and his sense of humor.
With the Blue Rugg Cutters, he plays button accordions and various
percussion instruments.
Rugg plays fiddle with Near Mrs. and is known for her strong melodic
and rhythmic style. Peevers has been playing guitar since the age of 16
and is a member of Feu de Joie. Together they play the dance music of
the British Isles, Quebec and the eastern U.S.
