It seems like yesterday we were leaving the school after meeting with the teachers and students to start up The Mercury again. Actually, it was February 24, 2003. I was disappointed that they really weren’t interested and it would probably take them a year before they could do anything. You were the one interested and asked if it were okay to run with the idea. And run you did! The Mercury was up and running by mid-July. Your determination and tenacity did a great job with The Mercury. Your creativity took it far. You made the past come alive with stories about the people who lived in Richfield Springs. Your bringing back The Mercury helped everyone stay in touch with our community, find out about others’ lives, relive the past, stay in touch with what is happening today and plan for our future. Thank you, Jay, for reviving The Mercury for as long as you did. Thank you for all you have done for Richfield Springs. You are an inspiration to all of us in Richfield. You have shown all of them what one person can do. I am proud to have you as a friend. Anna S. Hosford Richfield Springs |
