Special Awards
Girls’ Athletic Association Award - Camille Smith
The G.A.A. (Girls’ Athletic Association) Award is given to the
senior female athlete who has played the greatest number of
varsity-level sports and who has assisted the organization the most
throughout her high school career. This award recognizes not only the
amount of cooperation offered but also the manner in which it is
presented.
Senior Scholar Athlete Award - Kyle Richards and Jenna Miller
This award is given to a young man and a young woman who qualify by
lettering in at least two different varsity sports. The guidance office
determines the award winners by the highest scholastic average during
their four years in high school.
Peter Polo Sportsmanship Award - Kyle Richards and Sara Zurmuhlen
This award is given in memory of a totally selfless man who
was devoted to the youth of our community. He always had a pat on the
back and a small word of encouragement for the athletes and coaches. To
him, the final score of the game wasn’t as important as the learning
experience. It was his belief that the practice of good sportsmanship
helped to develop successful, responsible youths. This award is given
to a male and a female athlete, in grades 9-12, who exhibit the
qualities of good sportsmanship and willingness to be coached — a team
player who has enhanced his or her team and has improved himself or
herself by participating. This need not necessarily be an athlete of
outstanding talent, but it may be. We are looking for a self-giving
team player as oppossed to a self-serving individual player. The
emphasis for your nomination should be placed on good sportsmanship.
Joseph A. Fischette Award - Kyle Richards and Camille Smith
This award is given to a young man and a young lady, who, during
their four years of high school athletics, have demonstrated the
highest degree of excellence in ability, attitude, dedication,
teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship. The award winner will have
participated on two varsity teams.
