COOPERSTOWN – The Catskill Symphony Orchestra will present a concert of baroque chamber music in Christ Church, Cooperstown, at 4:30 p.m., Sunday. One of the highlights of this program will be the “Concerto for Two Flutes,” in a minor, by Goeg Philip Telemann, whose life spanned the years 1681-1767. The other featured work is the Brandenburg “Concerto No. 4” for violin and two flutes, which was written by Telemann’s better-known contemporary, Johann Sebastian Bach. The soloists in these works will be the CSO Concertmaster Michael Emery on violin, with flutists Norman Thibodieu and Joanne Grigoriev. An ensemble of 14 string players and harpsichord from the Catskill Symphony will accompany the soloists. CSO Music Director Charles Schneider will conduct the musicians in this program, which also will include Telemann’s Concert Suite in F Major and Antonio Vivaldi’s Sinfonia No. 1 in C Major. Tickets for this concert can be reserved by calling the symphony office, 607-436-2670. This concert is independent of the CSO full season of five concerts, which will open at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, in Hunt Union, SUNY College at Oneonta, with Rossini’s “William Tell Overture,” the Beethoven “Fifth Symphony,” and the Rachmaninoff “Piano Concerto No. 3,” with a return visit of soloist Wei-Jen Yuan.
