Lori Sawicki, of Richfield Springs, and Lorraine Stubley, of West Winfield, were set to graduate from the Leadership Otsego Program, Thursday, at the SUNY College at Oneonta campus in the Craven Lounge of the Morris Conference Center. Sawicki is the administrative manager of the Mithoefer Center for Rural Surgery at Bassett Healthcare, and Stubley is the director of Care Coordination at Bassett Healthcare. The two will join 10 other graduates. The Leadership Otsego Program is designed to prepare future leaders to serve Otsego County – those who are equipped with a well rounded understanding of the social, cultural, economic and political challenges and opportunities facing the county. Additionally, the program provides participants with an introduction to leadership skills, including public speaking, meeting management, time management, teamwork, fundraising, problem solving and planning. These skills enhance the participants’ ability to be excellent leaders and more effective employees. The Leadership Otsego Program was created in 1997 and is supported by five community organizations: The Future for Oneonta Foundation, Hartwick College, The Otsego County Chamber, SUNY College at Oneonta and the United Way of Delaware & Otsego Counties. To date, the program has conducted five classes and produced 60 graduates, many of whom are serving in community leadership positions in Otsego County.
