The annual Service of Remembrance to commemorate the holiday season will be held Sunday, Nov. 25, at 3 p.m., at St. Joseph’s Church, 35 Canadarago St., Richfield Springs. “Holidays can be the most difficult time of the year for someone who has experienced the death of a close friend or family member,” said Pam Hess, manager and co-owner of J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home. “This time of year can intensify the pain of grief and loneliness as the bereaved face the prospect of a holiday without their loved one. “The Candle Lighting Service of Remembrance is intended to help people include their loved ones in a celebration of memory. “It is a time when the community comes together to honor and remember friends and family,” Hess added. “Many people return each year, as they find the service an uplifting experience. “We encourage entire families to attend and share in this loving tribute. “Last year, over 215 people attended the Service of Remembrance.” The Hess family sponsors this annual event in cooperation with the Richfield Area Clergy. It is free and open to the surrounding communities.
