Cider mill displayed generosity
|
On behalf of the Friends of Bassett, we wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Fly Creek Cider Mill and Orchard, and Bill and Brenda Michaels and the Michaels family for their community minded generosity. We also thank the volunteers and attendees who helped make this festive event a grand success. Proceeds from the mill’s historic 150th anniversary celebration, Aug. 16, were graciously donated to the Friends’ initiative to acquire a new medical cancer screening coach for Bassett’s Regional Cancer Program. Since many cancer deaths are preventable, the new coach will benefit residents throughout central New York by providing preventative education and early detection services. Having a greater range than the smaller and outmoded mammography van it will replace, and with its self-contained, high-tech diagnostic equipment, the coach will bring pelvic exams and Pap smears for women, prostate screening and tests for men, and colorectal cancer and skin cancer screenings to the places where people live and work. From all of the Friends and all of the people who will benefit from these services, we thank you. Scott A. Barrett Executive Director Friends of Bassett
