Reunion Power has not reached out to residents
This is a letter to David Little, of Reunion Power, the turbine
company that proposes to put turbines on East Hill in Cherry Valley.
I attended a meeting in Springfield and heard you say that there was
a lot of support on East Hill for this project. If you are speaking of
the landowners who will profit by having turbines placed on their land,
they do not make up the majority of East Hill.
All you have to do is take a drive on East Hill and make note of all of the “No Wind Turbine” signs.
You once stated that if there was opposition to this project, you
would go elsewhere. Open your eyes and your ears. You have totally
ignored the people on East Hill who will be most impacted by turbines.
There has been no dialogue with you, and you have not reached out to
us. I would like to know, for instance, should this project go ahead,
how exactly would you get these 400’ turbines up to the ridge on East
Hill? How much clear cutting would you have to do? How would the roads
be changed to allow for the enormous dimensions of this equipment?
We know how our lives have been changed by just the possibility of a
turbine factory. How would our lives be changed during their
construction and how would our lives be changed afterwards? We can only
imagine.
A response of “minimal intrusion” is not enough.
It’s not enough to preach to the congregation. The people who will
most be impacted by this project deserve to have their questions
answered.
Kindly start talking.
