Jordanville Library celebrates 100 years

Entertainment was provided by the Owen D. Young School Alumni Jazz Band.
The celebration continued throughout the afternoon beginning with a cake cutting ceremony.
The Jordanville Library Centennial Celebration attracted both locals and neighbors of Jordanville who gathered to participate in the day long festivities marking the occasion. Librarian and chief organizer of the event, Judy Devries, is pictured, center, in black, among many of the library’s patrons.
Herkimer County Legislator Robert Hyde presented the library with a proclamation declaring Aug. 23 Jordanville Library Day. Assemblyman Marc Butler looks on.
Ladies of the hour charmed by President Teddy included Jordanville Library board of directors President Gwen Miner; Elizabeth Bell, daughter of the library’s original caretaker; Teddy Roosevelt; and Elizabeth Winthrop, author, Roosevelt historian and descendent of the Roosevelt family; stand on the steps of the library following Roosevelt’s reenactment of the dedication that took place 100 years ago.
