Volunteer squad is special
|
I wonder if the people of Richfield know how lucky we are. We have a special, dedicated group of people that we don’t pay. When something bad happens, the first thought that enters our head is calling 911.
This group is made up of mothers, fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers. When the call comes, they drop everything they’re doing and come to help.
I recently fell and was in excruciating pain. The call went out to 911. Under the living room light, I saw what looked like a yellow halo. A soft voice said, “We’re here to help you.” That soft, confident voice stayed with me until we reached the ER.
I’ve tried to say thank you but words don’t seem to do it. Then, I asked why? Why do you do it? The answer was: the satisfaction of helping someone. How do you top that?
When you see a member of this squad, you are indeed seeing a special person.
