RSCS School Tour
|
Richfield Springs Central School opened its doors in a warm welcome, embracing alumni from years past as part of the Reunion Weekend held at the end of August. Leading the tour was board of education member Tom Shypski, who updated the alumni on changes to the school building, the curriculum and technology. Shypski kept the crowd moving, and in true administrative fashion, kept the troublemakers in line. (Photos by Don Urtz and Janine Giordano) | Tour guide Tom Shypski gave the alumni a chance to rest midway through the extensive school tour, by giving a mini-lecture in the LGI room. Many were impressed by the technological and structural upgrades made to the school, which still managed to maintain its small town, classic school appearance from the outside. (Photo by Don Urtz) | | Alumni gathered on the stage to observe the 1893 Presidential Race banner that was found in one of the old Gladstone buildings purchased and renovated by Jay Bernhardt. The banner was handed over to the New York State Museum, who then loaned it to the community for this alumni weekend. (Photo by Janine Giordano) | | Alumni gathered in the library, one of the areas that has remained the same, only to find technology had taken over and replaced many of the books with Macintosh Computers. (Photo by Don Urtz) | | The tours ran consecutively throughout the day, beginning at 9 a.m. in the old gymnasium. (Photo by Janine Giordano) | | Tour Guide Tom Shypski paused enroute to discuss school policies and how things have changed, then provide question and answer sessions along the way. (Photo by Janine Giordano) | | Alumni wind their way down the stair case as the tour takes a turn towards the finish line. (Photo by Don Urtz) | | A stop in the Industrial Arts area updated alumni on the changes in curriculum as Tour Guide Tom Shypski informed everyone that BOCES now taught most of the tech classes.
