Her love of art was enhanced by her interest in nature and landscapes by a relative, John Burroughs, a naturalist from the Catskill area. Her tutelage began under the noted Italian artist, Guiseppe Trotta, who instructed Walters in the style of the old masters. After studying at William and Mary College and working with the Colonial restoration in Williamsburg, Virginia, she applied her talents in the interior design field. Walters continued painting and showing her work in New Jersey until relocating to upstate New York. She continued showing her work here as well while serving as executive director of the Cooperstown Art Association. In addition to her studio in Richfield Springs, Walters is currently showing as a member of the Smithy Pioneer Gallery, in Cooperstown, N.Y.
