JORDANVILLE – The ladies of Henderson Chapter, NSDAR, held their
regular meeting, Tuesday evening, May 23, at the Jordanville Church.
Regent welcomed all and conducted the ritualistic opening followed by
the singing of the national anthem.
The president general’s message from the May-June American Spirit
Magazine was read by Regent, who also read the national defense message
entitled, Light Money Paid for the American Revolution, from the
February National Defender.
Roll call was taken and the minutes of the April meeting were
approved. The treasurer’s report was given and ordered filed.
Correspondence included an invitation from the state vice regent, NYS
Organization, NSDAR, to make a contribution for a special gift to be
given to State Regent Libby McKee to show appreciation at the end of
her term of office.
A motion was made directing the treasurer to send a check. A copy of
a letter to state regent was received from Jeannette Wiatr, regent of
the General Nicholas Herkimer Chapter, regarding their proposed merger
with Henderson Chapter.
NSDAR school newsletters were received and a thank you note arrived
from the Jordanville Library acknowledging receipt of the book “A
Pictorial Review of Herkimer County, NY – Vol. II,” which the chapter
donated.
The June field trip to Saratoga Battlefield was cancelled since many
members could not attend. The regular June meeting will honor the DAR
Good Citizen, Chelsea Hammont, and her family, who could not attend in
May. A motion was made to have a work session, June 6, to reorganize
and catalog chapter records for storage at the Van Hornesville
Corporation library.
A memorial service was held honoring all former members with special notice of those who founded the chapter in 1912.
Collections were taken for the president general’s fund and cheer fund.
