JORDANVILLE – The Warren town board voted to suspend any further
discussions and negotiations with wind power companies for a period of
90 days at last week’s meeting. Some residents present at the meeting
were under the impression the action constituted a moratorium, but
Councilman Les Miller said that is not the case.
“It’s not actually a moratorium, that would require a local law and
a public hearing,” Miller said. “We don’t have a problem with the
developer (Community Energy), we have a problem with the county.”
Miller said the town board is unhappy with Herkimer County’s
exclusion of towns in the decision-making process. The county has been
investigating issues involved with wind power and said it is not
comfortable involving the towns at this point.
