Richfield Springs Central School fifth and sixth grade math teacher
Amy Dyn was recently awarded a 2005 McDonald’s MAC Grant courtesy of
McDonald’s of central New York and northern Pennsylvania.
Dyn applied for the grant last spring and received notification in
early September that her project entitled, “A Measure of
Kindness” would be funded.
“We commend your creativity and commitment to excellence in
education,” said Katie Robert, grand project coordinator. A committee
of educators, business professionals and McDonald’s representatives
found Dyn’s project worthy of funding.
Dyn’s project will be done during the holiday season in late
November and December and involves measuring, fractions, and using lots
of hands-on math to bake as a community service project for shut-ins
and senior citizens.
“I am so honored to be a recipient and it’ll be great to utilize
math and serve the community,” said Dyn. “The kids will be learning
good citizenship and making lots of memories. It will be a hoot!”
Bruce Watson is a teacher at RSCS.
